Paper Format and Question Breakdown

Let’s talk about how the paper was set this year. Each paper had:

  • Physics – 16 questions
  • Chemistry – 16 questions
  • Maths – 16 questions

So, there were 48 questions in each paper, with each subject getting equal weightage. Each paper had a total of 180 marks, making it 360 marks in total for both papers.

A big change this year was the lower number of questions. This was the lowest in the last 10 years, which surprised many students and teachers.

Instead of trying to make the exam longer, it seems like the focus was more on asking good quality questions that tested clear understanding.

How Tough Was the Exam?

Many students shared how they felt after the exam. Here’s a subject-wise breakdown:

  • Mathematics: Most students found this the hardest. It had tricky questions and long calculations. Some students ran out of time while solving Maths.
  • Physics: This section was moderately tough. A few numerical questions needed careful thinking, but it wasn’t as time-consuming as Maths.
  • Chemistry: This was the easiest section this year. Most questions were direct, especially from Inorganic and Organic topics.

So overall, Paper 2 was slightly tougher than Paper 1, mainly because of the Maths section.

Big Numbers: Female Participation Hits a New High

This year, over 43,000 female students appeared for JEE Advanced 2025. That’s more than 23% of the total candidates.

The IIT-Hyderabad zone had the highest number of female candidates, followed by the IIT-Bombay zone.

This shows that more girls are now choosing engineering, and it’s a good sign for future aspirants.
